Detecting Eye Problems as Early as Possible ....

Innovation

The MTI Photoscreener is the first available photoscreener to offer instant photographs of the eye for immediate on-site interpretation. With the MTI Photoscreener, refractive errors, ocular misalignment and media opacities can be easily identified.

Critical Early Detection and Treatment

Ophthalmic research has demonstrated that the first years of life are critical in the development of good vision. Amblyogenic vision disorders ("lazy eye"), present during this early period, can prevent proper development of the brain's binocular function resulting in amblyopia. The American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends screening all children's eyes to detect disorders.
The significant benefit of the MTI Photoscreener is its abilities in objectively screening for eye disorders during early childhood (preverbal children). This allows for early intervention and treatment of many conditions before they create irreversible damage, thereby giving a child the opportunity to develop good vision and a lifetime of normal sight.

How it works

The MTI Photoscreener takes photographs of the patient's eyes in two separate flash orientations. This patented, photorefractive system combines both exposures on one Polaroid instant photograph. Interpretation of these photographs, capturing the retinal reflex, allows detection of abnormal refractive errors including myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism and unequal refractive errors between eyes. Another amblyogenic factor, strabismus (misalignment of the eyes) can be detected. In addition, cataracts and other media opacities, which can cause amblyopia, can be identified.

Key Advantages

  • Multiple disorder identification
  • Effective preverbal screening
  • Performed in short time with instant results
  • Timely interpretation and referral
  • Does not require dilation of eyes
A Visison of the Future

Each day children's vision disorders go undetected and untreated, which can cause their vision to deteriorate to a point of irreversibility. It is essential that those children with vision disorders, associated with amblyopia, be detected and treated as early as possible.
The MTI Photoscreener can help establish a program for earlier and preventative, preverbal vision screening.
The MTI Photoscreener is one of the most advanced screening systems available.
Thus, I am very glad that I now can offer this opportunity to my patients for the very first time in Germany.
